Rain falling across parts of the country Thursday evening is expected to taper off before midnight, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration.

A surge of cold northern air will move in overnight, making Friday noticeably colder than Thursday.

Morning temperatures across inland regions will fall below freezing, with frost and patches of ice likely in some areas.

Light flurries or brief drizzle — below zero-point-one millimeters — may occur before dawn in parts of Chungcheong, Jeolla, and the higher terrain of Jeju.

Friday morning lows will range from minus five to five degrees Celsius nationwide, including minus one degree in Seoul, marking a drop of three to five degrees from Thursday.

Daytime highs will reach between six and 12 degrees, with Seoul expected at seven degrees.

Strong winds nationwide will make conditions feel even colder.

Waves will remain high, reaching between two and five meters across most seas.
