The government has launched a working group with Samsung Electronics and other major companies to coordinate the supply of advanced Nvidia graphics processing units(GPU).

The Ministry of Science and ICT announced the launch on Thursday during a ceremony at Vertex Hall in Jongno District, central Seoul.

At October's Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation gathering in Gyeongju, Nvidia unveiled plans to supply 260-thousand GPUs to the South Korean government, as well as Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor, SK Telecom and Naver.

At the inaugural meeting of the working group, government and business representatives discussed implementation plans for the GPU supply.

They also shared strategies for securing and utilizing advanced GPUs and explored ways to promote the domestic artificial intelligence ecosystem jointly.
