An Eastar Jet flight landed on Jeju Island with the cargo door partially open, prompting an investigation.

According to the transport ministry and the low-cost carrier, the Jeju-bound flight departed from Gimpo International Airport at 3:45 p.m. Monday with 177 passengers aboard.

The ministry said that though a warning light appeared when the plane took off from Gimpo, it is unlikely that the door opened during the flight, as there was no issue with the pressurization system. The situation did not create safety concerns.

The ministry is verifying whether appropriate aircraft maintenance and operation procedures were followed.

Eastar Jet said after checking the plane's black box that no abnormalities were detected during the pre-takeoff inspection and that the door was likely unsealed due to an impact during landing.

The carrier said no passenger luggage was displaced and that it will continue to investigate the cause.
