The chief of the National Court Administration(NCA) has filed complaints against the lawyers of former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, whom he accused of insulting a judge who ordered their detention.

In a press notice on Tuesday, the National Court Administration(NCA) said Minister Chun Dae-yup had filed complaints against the lawyers, Lee Ha-sang and Kwon Woo-hyeon, with the Seoul Seocho Police Station, accusing them of contempt of court and defamation.

The NCA said the two lawyers had gravely insulted the court and the presiding judge during the detention procedures last Wednesday and in a YouTube broadcast afterwards, adding that they had engaged in serious, unlawful acts against the judiciary and the judicial order.

The court administrative agency said that disrupting court procedures, insulting the court and defaming the judge seriously undermine the value of the judiciary, and that such acts must be firmly and strictly sanctioned without a favorable arrangement.

The lawyers were ordered to leave the court and spend 15 days in detention during the insurrection trial of former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo last Wednesday after verbally accusing a judge of abuse of authority.

The two refused to cooperate at a subsequent hearing, and the Seoul Detention Center, where they were ordered detained, asked the court to correct the order, arguing that their identities had not been clearly specified.

The two then openly criticized the judge on YouTube, and the judge has since said he intends to enforce their detention after verifying their personal information.
