Overseas card spending by South Koreans hit an all-time high during the third quarter.

According to data from the Bank of Korea(BOK) released Tuesday, Korean nationals' overseas card usage totaled five-point-93 billion U.S. dollars between July and September, up seven-point-three percent from the previous quarter.

The latest amount surpasses the previous record of five-point-71 billion dollars set in the third quarter of 2024.

A BOK official attributed the record tally to an increased number of people traveling overseas during the summer break.

During the July-to-September period, around seven-point-09 million people traveled abroad, up four-point-eight percent compared to the April-to-June period.

Meanwhile, card usage by nonresidents in South Korea dropped zero-point-eight percent from a record set in the second quarter to three-point-76 billion dollars.
