The government has held a joint drill near waters off Incheon Port on responding to ship collisions.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety said that it conducted with related government agencies the 4th READY Korea drill on Tuesday.

The exercise focused on responding to ship collisions, onboard fires and oil leakages, after taking into account that winter sea sees a surge in risk factors, including fog.

Interior minister Yun Ho-jung said with the latest drill, the ministry thoroughly reviewed each agency's response system to complex disaster situations.

He then vowed to minimize casualties by actively taking initial response steps for various disasters and accidents.
