Hanwha Eagles' Cody Ponce Named KBO's 2025 MVP

Pitcher Cody Ponce of the Hanwha Eagles has been named the most valuable player(MVP) of the Korea Baseball Organization's(KBO) 2025 season, becoming the first foreign Eagles player to secure the title. 

The 31-year-old American received the honor at the KBO’s annual awards ceremony in Seoul on Monday after securing 96 of the 125 votes cast by members of the media.

Ponce appeared in 29 regular-season games this year, posting a record of 17 wins and one loss with an ERA of one-point-89 and 252 strikeouts.

He swept all four pitching titles, including winning percentage, wins, ERA and strikeouts.

Ponce is the first Eagles player to win the MVP award in 19 years since Ryu Hyun-jin.
