Main opposition People Power Party(PPP) leader Jang Dong-hyeok will embark on a nationwide tour to rally public support for a parliamentary probe into the prosecution's decision to forgo an appeal in the Daejang-dong case and a call to resume President Lee Jae Myung's related trial.
PPP Secretary General Jung Hee-yong said on Friday that the main opposition head plans to travel across the country until December 2 to issue a "red card" to the Lee Jae Myung administration for neglecting people's livelihoods.
Jung said the party chief will visit eleven regions, starting with the cities of Busan and Ulsan on Saturday, followed by the Gyeongsang region, Chungcheong region, Gangwon Province and Incheon, before wrapping up the tour in Gyeonggi Province on December 2.
The secretary general said the controversy surrounding the Daejang-dong appeal has been amplified nationwide and accused the Lee administration of destroying constitutionalism and democracy for its own political gain.
He said the PPP chief intends to explain the current state of affairs to the public and party members, to push for a parliamentary investigation into the decision to drop the appeal and demand that Lee's trial resume.
