President Lee Jae Myung contributed an article to Cairo's state-run Al-Ahram newspaper highlighting the 30th anniversary of bilateral relations during an official visit to Egypt.
In the story published on Thursday, Lee said the two sides' 30-year companionship is now headed toward the future, and that he is confident that bilateral cooperation across the economy, culture and peace will help create a better tomorrow.
Lee said that based on its development experience, Seoul could become Cairo's most trustworthy partner for its "Vision 2030" agenda, aimed at achieving inclusive, sustainable development, enhancing innovation and research and improving the quality of life and standard of living.
The president said the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1995 had provided an opportunity for the two sides to collaborate and grow, noting that Samsung and LG produce home appliances and smartphones in the country.
He also anticipated that production of the K9 self-propelled howitzer at Hanwha Aerospace's plant in Egypt, set to begin next year, would become an example of win-win cooperation.
