South Korea’s automobile exports fell more than ten percent last month due to U.S. auto tariffs.

According to data from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources, automobile exports in October fell ten-point-five percent to five-point-55 billion dollars from the previous year.

The main reason for the decline was a 29 percent drop in shipments to the United States, South Korea's largest car market, which have fallen for eight consecutive months.

The ministry explained that the decline was partly due to the Chuseok holiday, which reduced automakers' production days by 3 to 4 days compared to last year.

Exports to the European Union also declined by two-point-one percent to 750 million dollars in October, while shipments to Asia surged 42 percent to 800 million dollars.

Despite the slump last month, cumulative car exports through October reached a record 59-point-63 billion, up zero-point-nine percent from last year.
