President Lee Jae Myung met with South Korean troops stationed in the United Arab Emirates(UAE), praising the Akh unit for its role in maintaining peace and security in the region.

The meeting took place at a hotel in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday at the end of Lee's three-day state visit to the UAE.

Lee commended the unit for carrying out its mission far from home and said Sheik Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, president of the UAE, had expressed strong appreciation and high expectations for the troops.

He urged the soldiers to see themselves as military and security diplomats, contributing to peace in the Middle East and beyond, elevating South Korea’s global standing and protecting the nation's citizens.

Lee thanked the troops for their service and said the nation would not forget their dedication and sacrifices.
