President Lee Jae Myung has arrived in Egypt for a three-day visit, the second leg of his four-nation trip tied to the Group of 20 summit.

Lee landed at Cairo International Airport on Wednesday after concluding his three-day state visit to the United Arab Emirates.

During his visit to Egypt, which marks 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations, Lee will hold a summit and official luncheon with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

After the summit on Thursday, Lee plans to deliver a speech at Cairo University outlining his vision for deeper engagement with the Middle East.

His final event will be a meeting with Korean residents of Egypt later Thursday evening.

National Security Adviser Wi Sung-lac said earlier that Egypt serves as a global logistics hub connecting Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and is one of South Korea’s comprehensive cooperation partners.

He added that Lee’s visit will boost trade and strengthen ties in education and culture.
