Bank of Korea(BOK) Gov. Rhee Chang-yong says the South Korea-U.S. trade deal has significantly reduced uncertainty for Seoul.

Rhee told the BBC in an interview aired Tuesday that a joint investment combining America's scientific capabilities with South Korea's manufacturing and engineering capacity was desirable.

On the impact of U.S. tariffs, Rhee said related data was not bad, thanks to brisk exports in the first half of the year, but he expects a bigger impact in the second half.

He was quick to add, however, that the nation had already witnessed a restructuring of global supply chains and begun diversifying markets beyond China even before the current trade tensions.

Rhee then stressed that South Korea is somewhat less vulnerable than other countries to a potential artificial intelligence bubble and predicted that the current boom will continue.
