Amid rumors that Seoul is considering disciplinary measures against revolting senior prosecutors, Justice Minister Jung Sung-ho says the most important thing for the people is for the justice ministry and the prosecution to be stable.

The minister made the statement to reporters on his way to work on Monday when asked whether senior prosecutors who criticized the government's decision not to appeal a ruling in the high-profile Daejang-dong corruption case will be disciplined.

Jung said he was considering the best way to handle the situation.

The government is reportedly considering reassigning 18 senior prosecutors who openly opposed the government's decision.

The ruling Democratic Party has called on the government to discipline and investigate the critics.

Though the justice ministry refers to the move as a reassignment, it is understood in the legal sector to be a demotion.
