A motion to arrest former People Power Party(PPP) floor leader Choo Kyung-ho has been officially reported to a plenary session of the National Assembly, allowing parliamentary procedure to begin for a related vote.

The National Assembly announced during a plenary session on Thursday that the justice ministry had submitted a motion for Choo's arrest on Friday after obtaining presidential approval.

Choo stands accused of blocking a vote to terminate martial law on December 3.

The move also comes after a special counsel investigating the martial law case sought Choo's pretrial detention last Monday, accusing him of “participating in an important insurrection mission."

Per parliamentary rules, a vote on a motion to arrest a lawmaker must take place within seventy-two hours of its submission, or at the next available session after that deadline.

The ruling Democratic Party and the PPP had previously agreed to report the motion for Choo's arrest on Thursday and to vote on it on November 27.
