A special counsel team investigating former first lady Kim Keon-hee summoned former President Yoon Suk Yeol for questioning.

At a press briefing on Wednesday, the team said it delivered a request for Yoon to appear at 10 a.m. on November 26 to the head of the Seoul Detention Center, where the former president is currently detained.

The team is summoning Yoon as a suspect facing charges of violating the Public Official Election Act.

In August, the team tried to bring the former president in for questioning but gave up after he put up strong resistance, leading to a physical clash.

The team said it expects Yoon to cooperate this time because he recently participated in interrogations related to his martial law declaration and alleged interference in an investigation into the death of a Marine in 2023.
