The court presiding over the insurrection trial of former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo will compel former President Yoon Suk Yeol to testify after he failed to appear on Wednesday.

The Seoul Central District Court said Yoon had failed to justify his absence and that it would bring him in on November 19 and impose a fine of five million won, or around three-thousand-500 U.S. dollars.

The court will do the same for former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, who also ignored a court summons.

The court is scheduled to hold its final hearing on November 26, during which the prosecution will request Han's punishment and the former prime minister will deliver a closing statement.

The former prime minister stands accused of aiding and abetting Yoon's December 3 martial law declaration, perjury and falsifying official documents.

The court is set to issue its ruling on either January 21 or 28.
