Another case of highly pathogenic avian influenza has been confirmed at a poultry farm in Gyeonggi Province.
 
The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for Avian Influenza said Monday that it had confirmed the presence of H5N1 at a poultry farm in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, which is home to 19-thousand chickens, following death reports.
 
The announcement marks the third confirmed case of highly pathogenic bird flu detected at a poultry farm this year.
 
The organization is inspecting approximately 40 poultry farms within a ten-kilometer radius of the affected site and disinfecting roads leading to farms, rivers, reservoirs and migratory bird habitats nationwide.
 
It also plans to look into seven other farms and hatcheries belonging to the same corporate group as the affected facility.
