The search for two missing workers at the Ulsan boiler tower collapse site continued for a fifth straight day on Monday.
Fire authorities said they were preparing to dismantle two damaged towers that flank the collapsed boiler tower as they continue search efforts at the decommissioned thermal power plant in the southeastern city of Ulsan.
According to the authorities, the plan was to deploy heavy equipment to lift heavy debris from the collapsed and dismantled towers to find the missing.
Three of the seven people who were initially trapped underneath the collapsed structure have since been confirmed dead, and two others are feared to be dead.
A nearby labor union stated in a news conference earlier that day that, at the time of the accident, only workers from Korea Kacoh, a subcontractor, were on site.
Raising concern about the risks the workers faced, they argued that structural issues with the tower may have been caused by the developer subcontracting non-regular workers to reduce costs.
