2 Dead, 3 Missing after Chinese Fishing Boat Capsizes off West Sea

A Chinese fishing vessel carrying eleven people has capsized in international waters off South Korea, leaving two dead and three missing.

According to authorities, the 98-ton Chinese vessel overturned around 6:50 a.m. Sunday in international waters approximately 80 kilometers off Gageo Island in South Jeolla Province. 

Six crew members were rescued immediately by another Chinese fishing vessel nearby. 

Subsequently, South Korea’s Coast Guard arrived on the scene and found two additional crew members drifting in the sea.

The two found by the Coast Guard had no vital signs and are believed dead, while three crew members are still missing. 

Rescue operations continue.
