The presidential office said Friday that South Korea and the United States are finalizing a joint fact sheet on security cooperation, with some wording under review to reflect new issues discussed at last month’s summit.
A senior official told reporters that the document would cover all topics on which the two leaders had agreed—including the nuclear-powered submarine project, uranium enrichment and alliance modernization.
The plan calls for constructing the submarine hull and reactor in South Korea with enriched uranium fuel supplied from the United States.
The official clarified that President Donald Trump’s earlier mention of a U.S. shipyard had been a misunderstanding, adding that President Lee Jae Myung had clearly stated during their summit that the vessel would be built “here in Korea.”
Washington is still reviewing the updated text, which is holding up its release, but both sides have reportedly completed most adjustments.
Officials said the fact sheet aims to provide a comprehensive summary of recent summit outcomes in trade and defence.
