The National Assembly’s special committee on budget and accounts is set to review the government’s 2026 budget proposal.

The special committee will hold a plenary session on Thursday to formally introduce the budget bill, which totals 728 trillion won, up eight-point-one percent from this year’s 673-point-three trillion won allocation.

Following the introduction of the proposal, the committee will conduct two days of comprehensive policy questioning, with the two rival parties holding sharply divided views.

Budgets for economic ministries will be reviewed next Monday and Tuesday, followed by those of non-economic ministries on Wednesday and Thursday.

After these sessions, the budget adjustment subcommittee will begin deliberations on November 17 to set final spending levels for each ministry.

The finalized 2026 budget bill is expected to pass the National Assembly plenary session in early December.
