Mobile carrier KT will offer free SIM card replacements to all customers following a series of security breaches.

The decision was made during a board meeting on Tuesday.

However, the board did not discuss whether to waive early termination fees.

The decision comes after hundreds of KT users received fraudulent carrier charges following a data breach that exposed the details of over 22-thousand users.

Starting at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, customers could begin making reservations through KT’s website or at dedicated service centers.

To prevent an initial surge in applications, KT will first provide the service to customers in Incheon, eight districts in Seoul, and nine cities in Gyeonggi Province.

The program will expand to the entire capital region and Gangwon Province on November 19 and begin operating nationwide on December 3.
