The special counsel team investigating former first lady Kim Keon Hee will summon both Kim and former President Yoon Suk Yeol for questioning this month. 

Assistant counselor Kim Hyung-geun revealed the plan at a press briefing on Monday. 

The team plans to summon Kim first.

The team has called Lee Bae-yong, the former chairperson of the National Education Commission, to appear at 10 a.m. Thursday. 

Prosecutors believe Lee was appointed to the ministerial post in return for gifting Kim a gold turtle and a replica of a painting by Joseon Dynasty calligrapher and painter Kim Jong-hui.

Lee refused to appear for questioning on two occasions last month, citing health reasons.
