Cold Wave Hits Central Region

Temperatures plunged Monday, prompting the first cold wave advisory of the season for the central region and inland areas.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, morning lows in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province, fell to around minus five degrees Celsius and to zero degrees in Seoul.

Cold wave advisories are in effect for parts of the nation, including Seoul, Gyeonggi Province and Incheon.

Afternoon highs will remain chilly, reaching 13 degrees in Seoul, 14 in the eastern coastal city of Gangneung and 15 in Daegu and Jeonju, North Jeolla Province.

Temperatures will remain colder than average through Tuesday morning but return to seasonal norms in the afternoon, with daily temperature gaps of around 15 degrees expected in many areas.
