Major League Soccer(MLS) named Los Angeles Football Club(LAFC) forward Son Heung-min's free kick, completed in his MLS debut match on August 23, the 2025 AT&T MLS Goal of the Year.

According to the MLS website, the South Korean superstar's Goal of the Year award honors "his stunning free kick in a one-one draw at FC Dallas on August 23."

The 33-year-old, who made headlines with his MLS-record transfer from the Premier League's Tottenham Hotspur in early August, scored his first MLS goal during his third game with LAFC and has since tallied nine goals and three assists across ten regular-season games.

Son, along with teammate Denis Bouanga, Inter Miami CF's Lionel Messi and 13 others were nominated for the Goal of the Year honors. Son was named the winner after an online fan vote.

Goal of the Year has been awarded since the inaugural MLS season in 1996, and Son is the first Asian and the first LAFC player to win it.
