Amid yearly low temperatures throughout the eastern Gangwon Province on Monday, the first snow of the year was recorded in the highlands of Seoraksan National Park.

The Seoraksan National Park Office estimated that snow had been falling since the early morning hours, with around one centimeter of snow accumulated at Jungcheong shelter inside the park.

The year's first snow was observed one day later than it was in 2024.

A national park official advised caution among visitors due to the increased risk of accidents caused by heavier temperature fluctuation in the late fall.

The official urged visitors to bring additional clothing, items to stay away from the cold, an emergency food supply and extra batteries.
