The special counsel team investigating the December 3 martial law declaration has issued a second order for former President Yoon Suk Yeol to appear for questioning on September 30.

Prosecutors said in a briefing on Friday that Yoon, who is currently in pretrial detention, had ignored an initial notice without explanation, prompting the team to deliver a second summons directly through prison staff.

The team also denied reports that Yoon had asked to be questioned at the detention center, saying it had received no such request.

Separately, the special counsel dismissed accusations of preferential treatment in the case of former Justice Minister Park Sung-jae, who avoided reporters before undergoing 13 hours of questioning on Thursday by entering the office through an underground garage.

The team said Park had not deliberately evaded the press and that the former minister had exited the building via its main entrance.
