The Seoul Central District Court will allow the live broadcast of former President Yoon Suk Yeol’s first trial centered on new charges related to his brief imposition of martial law, including the obstruction of arrest.

The court said Thursday that it had approved the prosecution’s request to open the first hearing, scheduled to begin Friday at 10:15 a.m., to photography and live coverage.

Yoon, who is charged with obstruction of rights by abuse of authority and ordering the deletion of records, is expected to appear in court alongside his lawyers.

However, the court did not approve the special counsel team’s request to allow live coverage of Yoon’s bail hearing and said it would announce its reasoning during Friday’s proceedings.
