The Lee Jae Myung administration disclosed the presidential office's execution of special activity funds, operating expenses and special business expenses on its website, becoming the first Korean presidential office in history to do so.

The top office said in a news release Tuesday that the disclosure aimed to assure taxpayers that the government was utilizing their funds properly despite limitations due to the confidentiality of government matters.

The disclosure follows an administrative suit filed by Newstapa in August 2022, demanding that the former Yoon Suk Yeol administration disclose certain information about certain financial operations. The Supreme Court ruled partially in favor of the media outlet in June.

The newly disclosed information includes dates of execution, reasons for execution, amounts and event locations for expenditures from June through August.
