Former President Yoon Suk Yeol asked a court to release him on bail while he awaits his first formal trial on charges of obstruction of duties and abuse of authority. 

Yoon's legal team filed the request with the Seoul Central District Court on Friday, citing the need to ensure a proper defense, along with health reasons and the alleged unfairness of the charges. 

Yoon was freed in March after the court approved his lawyers' request to have him released from detention pending trial, but he was taken back into custody in July at the request of the special counsel team handling his case.

A court date regarding Yoon's request has not yet been set.
