North Korean leader Kim Jong-un reportedly said that there is no reason for the country to avoid dialogue with the United States if Washington stops insisting his country giving up nuclear weapons.
The North’s state Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) said on Monday that Kim made the remarks the previous day in a speech at the Supreme People’s Assembly at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.
Kim reportedly said that he still has a good memory of U.S. President Donald Trump, adding if the United States drops the absurd obsession with denuclearizing the North and accepts reality, and wants genuine peaceful coexistence, there is no reason for Pyongyang not to sit down with the U.S.
Kim, however, stressed that his country will never give up nuclear weapons, saying that it will be a miscalculation if the enemies believe they can press or defeat the North by imposing sanctions or flexing muscles.
Kim also said that he will never sit down with South Korea for talks and never seek unification, highlighting that South Korea is a hostile state.
