A confidential list of members on the National Assembly's mobile carrier security inspection task force was confirmed to have been compromised in a data breach, following recent hacking incidents at leading carriers SKT and KT.

According to the office of ruling Democratic Party Rep. Kim Woo-young, the data pertaining to 22 people on the task force was leaked from 14 offices of lawmakers on the task force, the science ministry, and the Korea Communications Commission.

The task force was launched in April, after SKT was hacked, and the list of its members, aside from lawmakers, had not previously been disclosed.

Their information was leaked when an email account held by someone at Korea University was breached by an unidentified hacker on May 13.

The university explained that sensitive data, such as contact numbers or citizenship registration numbers of those listed, were not included.
