President Lee Jae Myung has instructed officials to conduct a factual survey on unfair treatment of foreign laborers in the country and delayed wage payments.

According to presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung on Friday, Lee requested a systematic briefing on the matter during a meeting with his aides.

The president said no foreigner staying in the country should face unfair treatment, in consideration of its changed status as a cultural nation, then urged his aides to come up with appropriate support measures.

During a Cabinet meeting earlier in the week, Lee urged the justice ministry to look for ways to allow foreign laborers who are owed wages to remain in the country until they are fully paid for their work.
