South Korea and Japan are expected to hold talks between their defense ministers next week on the sidelines of a multilateral security dialogue in Seoul.

The defense ministry said on Friday that the 14th Seoul Defense Dialogue(SDD) will be held from next Monday to Wednesday in Seoul, bringing together about one thousand officials from 68 countries and international organizations.

Defense chiefs from five countries, including Japan’s Defense Minister Gen Nakatani, will visit the country for the security dialogue.

It will mark the first visit by a Japanese defense minister to South Korea since 2015.

Vice defense ministers from eight countries and Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, the chairman of the NATO Military Committee, will also attend the event.

South Korea’s Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back will hold separate talks with the defense chiefs of the five nations and the NATO Military Committee chair.
