National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik met Zhao Leji, chairman of China’s National People’s Congress Standing Committee, in Beijing on Thursday.

Woo said his delegation’s attendance at Beijing's Victory Day event reflected a strong will to advance bilateral ties and regional peace.

He renewed calls for Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit Korea for October’s APEC summit in Gyeongju, calling it a turning point for relations.

Woo also raised the West Sea issue, urging it not to become an obstacle to cooperation, and proposed stronger efforts to preserve Korean independence sites in China.

He also delivered a document outlining grievances of Korean firms in China and requested a more stable business environment.

Zhao pledged support for fair treatment of Korean businesses and agreed on expanding youth and local exchanges to build trust.
