The government is scheduled to distribute a second round of consumption coupons starting from September 22, with local consumer cooperatives to be added as eligible places where they can be used.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced updates to the stimulus coupon program on Thursday, explaining the move takes into account the cooperatives’ public service role such as promoting eco-friendly agricultural products and offering convenience to residents.

The government will also revise the guideline on local gift certificates to allow local consumer cooperatives with annual sales exceeding three billion won to be added as valid coupon locations.

Interior Minister Yun Ho-jung said it's expected to further strengthen the public function of participating cooperatives.

A list of local consumer cooperative stores where the coupons can be used will be available on the ministry’s website.
