The National Assembly will hold confirmation hearings for the nominees to lead the education ministry and financial regulator on Tuesday. 

The parliamentary committee on education is set to convene a confirmation hearing at 10 a.m. for Education Minister and Deputy Prime Minister nominee Choi Kyo-jin.

At the same time, the parliamentary committee on national policy will hold a confirmation hearing for Lee Eok-won, nominee for chairman of the Financial Services Commission.

The main opposition People Power Party is likely to scrutinize Choi’s history of controversial political remarks, a past DUI conviction, and allegations that his master’s thesis contained plagiarism.

The Assembly is scheduled to hold confirmation hearings for Gender Equality Minister nominee Won Min-kyung on Wednesday and Fair Trade Commission Chairman nominee Ju Biung-ghi on Friday.
