KTO: No. of Foreign Visitors in July Jump 23% On-Yr., Jan.-July Tally Surpasses 10 Mln

The number of foreign visitors last month increased by 23 percent on-year, while the cumulative tally between January and July surpassed ten million.

According to the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) on Friday, there were over one-point-73 million visitors in July, up 119-point-seven percent compared to the pre-pandemic tally in July 2019.

Visitors from China accounted for 34-point-seven percent, followed by 17-point-three percent from Japan, and eleven-point-five percent from Taiwan.

The number of foreign visitors between January and July, which rose 15-point-nine percent on-year to ten-point-06 million, returned to the pre-pandemic level, 106-point-eight percent higher than the 2019 count.

Meanwhile, more than two-point-43 million Koreans traveled overseas last month, down two-point-seven percent on-year, with a cumulative tally for the January-to-July period standing at 17 million.
