Police are investigating an online post threatening to plant bombs at the Seoul offices of the telecoms giant KT.

The post, uploaded around midnight to an online forum, claimed the writer had lost billions of won in cryptocurrency trading due to unspecified issues with KT’s internet service and had “nothing left to lose.”

The author further alleged they had purchased a homemade bomb on the messaging app Telegram and would plant explosives at KT branches before detonating them around lunchtime, though the message was later deleted.

Seoul’s Yangcheon Police received a report at 1 a.m. Tuesday and are tracking the communication, but no evacuations or building searches took place.

KT said it has verified the report and reinforced security at all of its buildings, while police said the person could face charges of public intimidation once identified.
