The special counsel team investigating the December 3 martial law case has raided the National Assembly Secretariat.
The team, led by special counsel Cho Eun-suk, reportedly searched the secretariat on Thursday to obtain CCTV footage for the Assembly’s main building and other materials relevant to its investigation into alleged attempts to obstruct the Assembly’s vote to lift martial law.
Cho’s team is looking into allegations that on the night of martial law, former People Power Party floor leader Choo Kyung-ho tried to obstruct the crucial vote at the request of former President Yoon Suk Yeol.
Choo allegedly did so by changing the location of an emergency party meeting multiple times, alternating between the National Assembly and the party headquarters in Yeouido.
As a result, many of his party’s lawmakers were unable to participate in the vote.
Choo was listed as a suspect in the search and seizure warrant.
