U.S. President Donald Trump says he has begun arrangements for a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. 

Trump made the remarks in a post on his social media platform Truth Social on Monday, after meetings with Zelenskyy and a host of leaders of European countries at the White House.

The U.S. president said in the post that at the conclusion of the meetings, he called Putin and began the arrangements for a meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy at a location to be determined. 

Trump said that after it, he will take part in a trilateral meeting with Putin and Zelenskyy. 

In his meetings with the European leaders, Trump said he discussed security guarantees for Ukraine, adding that guarantees would be provided by the various European countries in coordination with the United States.
