President of the International Federation of Gymnastics(FIG) Bruno Grandi has suggested U.S. gymnast Paul Hamm yield the gold medal to South Korean Yang Tae-young as an ultimate show of good will.

Head of South Korea's Olympic delegation Shin Bark-jae said Friday that Grandi made the suggestion in a formal letter to Paul Hamm, saying giving the gold to Yang "would be recognized as the ultimate demonstration of fair play."

Shin quoted Bruno as saying that he thinks Yang was the "true champion."

Shin continued to say that regardless of the response from the U.S. gymnast, the letter will make a better case for the Korean delegation to refer the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport(CAS). Shin said the South Korean delegation will file a formal complaint with the organization before the end of the Games.

However, the US Olympic Committee said Grandi's recommendation was out of the question, accusing the International Federation of Gymnastics of trying to shift blame for its own mistakes.
