S. Korea Secures Bronze in 69 kg-Boxing

South Korea's Kim Jung-joo has secured a bronze medal in the welterweight boxing competition in Athens.

Kim outpointed Columbian Juan Camilo Novoa Aguinaga by 25-23 Monday in the round of eight.

In women's 55 kilogram freestyle wrestling match, Lee Na-rae failed in her bid to advance into the semi-finals after she was defeated 2-5 by her French opponent.

Meanwhile, South Korea's men's handball team won a ticket to the quarterfinals Sunday, though it lost to Slovenia 26-23.

South Korea placed third in Group A and will face the first runner-up of Group B for a slot to the semifinals.

The women's handball team also advanced to the quarterfinals after it beat Spain 36-21. South Korea will play against France on Monday for a spot in the semifinals.

In other Olympic action, Kim Kyung-ah took the bronze in the women's table tennis singles by beating Singapore's Li Jia Wei 4 to one on Sunday.

Earlier on Sunday, South Korea's Ryu Seung-min won a ticket to the men's table tennis singles final, ousting one of the game's legends, Jan-Ove Waldner of Sweden.
