South Korea's Jang Mi-ran took the silver medal in the women's over75 kg weightlifting event at the Olympics Saturday.

The 21-year-old South Korean athlete lifted 130.0 kg in the snatch part of the event, followed by a 172.5 kg clean and jerk for a Olympic record combined total of 302.5 kg.

This record was then broken by China's Tang Gonghong who lisfted 182.5 kg to set a new Olympic and world record total of 305.0 kg and take the gold.

The medal is the second for a South Korean in this weightlifting events at the 2004 games. Lee Bae-young won silver in the men's under-69 kg class on Wednesday.
