The Constitutional Court has begun the hearings for Prime Minister Han Duck-soo’s impeachment trial and its adjudication of related jurisdictional disputes.

Lee Jin, the court’s public information officer, said Tuesday that Justices Kim Bok-hyeong and Kim Hyung-du will be in charge of preparing arguments and examining evidence.

But the court did not disclose the name of the chief justice who will preside over the trial.

While prioritizing the impeachment trial of President Yoon Suk Yeol, the six sitting justices issued a statement calling for prompt efforts to fill the three vacant seats on the nine-member bench to guarantee a swift, fair trial.

Those seats have been vacant since October.

With the exception of the court’s acting President Moon Hyung-bae, each justice is currently presiding over one or more impeachment trials, with some justices handling as many as four.
