The government says 174 of the 179 victims of the Jeju Air plane crash had been identified as of 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Park Sang-woo delivered the information on Tuesday in a briefing for the victims’ families at Muan International Airport.

The minister said that of the 174 identified bodies, four have been handed over to their families and the remaining 170 are currently in a temporary morgue within the airport.

Park said 27 victims were identified overnight and that the government would begin interviews with their families at 10 a.m. Tuesday, adding that the families will be shown the bodies.

As for the five victims whose identities have yet to be confirmed, Park pledged to ensure that the identification work is completed by the end of Tuesday through additional DNA tests.
