Analysis of the black box from the Jeju Air plane involved in a fatal crash at Muan International Airport began on Monday upon its arrival at Gimpo International Airport's test and analysis center.

According to the transport ministry, investigators are expected to determine the scope of data extraction after examining the degree of damage.

The probe team is also in the process of collecting communications data at the ground control center and interviewing air traffic controllers.

Two representatives from the American aircraft manufacturer Boeing and two officials from the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board are scheduled to arrive Monday night to take part in the investigation.

Earlier, the ministry said it dispatched inspectors to launch an inspection of Jeju Air's same Boeing B737-800 aircraft that was forced to fly back Monday morning due to problems with the landing gear.
