South Jeolla Province has vowed to support the families of those who lost their lives in Sunday’s plane crash, with memorial altars set to open in 22 cities and counties across the province in addition to the memorial at the accident site in Muan.
South Jeolla Province Gov. Kim Young-rok said in a press briefing Monday that as the bereaved families anxiously wait for information, every effort will be made until the last victim is identified.
The province has declared a special period of mourning for the plane crash victims through January 4.
As the government has designated Muan County, South Jeolla Province, a special disaster zone, it will provide immediate support such as post-accident damage recovery management and living expenses for the bereaved families.
In addition, the families are receiving transportation services and the province is operating a waiting room for them at Muan International Airport, with round-the-clock medical and integrated psychological support groups on standby.
