President Yoon Suk Yeol has rejected a second request to appear for questioning by investigative authorities probing his December 3 martial law decree.

According to the special probe team from the National Office of Investigation(NOI) under the police, the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials(CIO), and the defense ministry, multiple attempts were made to deliver the summons to Yoon but they were all rejected.

Last Friday, the probe team sent the summons via express delivery and electronically to the president’s residence, the office of Yoon’s secretary for administrative affairs, and the office of the president’s personal secretary.

In the documents, the investigators urged Yoon to appear for questioning at the CIO office in Gwacheon by 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Christmas Day, as a suspect for abusing his power and leading an insurrection.

If the president fails to appear for questioning, the probe team will consider whether to send a summons for a third time or file a request for a warrant to detain Yoon.
